The UKIP Blip

I hope it will be more than a blip, of course. Not because I am a member, or vote for them (except, of course, in European elections), but because I believe that the only way the Conservatives will ever win a proper mandate (ie a majority in parliament and a manifesto which talks turkey) is to embrace the UKIP vote. And if the UKIP vote stabilises around 10-12%, they will have to get wise and do a deal.

32 million votes were cast in 1992, over 14m of them for the Tories. 26 million were cast in 2010, 10.7m for the Tories. The Tory vote has not so much 'switched' since 1992, but just stopped voting. I think they were/are 'Thatcher's C1s/C2s', in other words the skilled and semi-skilled working class who have done so badly under Labour and mass immigration.

Cameron, Osborne and their modernisation project coterie of friends have obviously blown it. They thought (honestly) that by embracing unconservative irrelevances - ring-fencing the Mercedes-to-Dictators Overseas Aid Budget, 'marriage' for gays, Big Green Taxation, etc - they would win Liberal votes. Maybe one for every four 'core' votes you lose, boys; the mathematics are not on your side, even if you end up getting an invitation to Elton's annual white tie and tiara ball.

Thomas Pascoe in the Torygraph Blogs:

UKIP are the party of grammar schools, controlled immigration, Euroscepticism and the small state. These are the values of the Conservative party members, whose devotion mitigates the inadequacies of CCHQ. They are also the values of many Tory MPs.

In fact, the only people in the Conservative Party for who those values are an anachronism are already ministers.

I suppose I'm one of those people. I come from a Red Clyde/Glasgow Irish background but escaped via education into University and then the RAF. So I ended up in England, having a mortgage - and being a company director led to me voting Tory more often than not. I found Thatcher personally objectionable (that voice! Grrrr!!! So patronising) but pretty much agreed with a lot of what she did, bar poll tax. But the veneer of civilisation I've acquired is a bit thin, so I find I still have a visceral dislike of poncy effete English toffs. And now they run the Tories again. And what do they do? They suck up to the new left-wing cultural establishment. (You know a revolution is complete when the Etonians join it.) I want a small state, low tax, high freedom party that will stop bossing me about and get us out of the clutches of that supreme corporatist construct, the EU. I want an end to the Green zealots controlling government policy and I want the Bolsheviks Broadcasting Communism eviscerated.

That useless c*nt Cameron is not going to give me any of that - after all, he's one of them! I'll NEVER vote for him. And being told by the BBC this morning that the black UKIP candidate in Croydon is an extremist for not wanting to allow turd burglars to adopt kids makes me think that 90% of the country must be extremist. UKIP have got my vote until the Tories come to their senses. Why vote "blue" when you get a vile mixture of green and red?

Good rant, SW. English toffs I can take (most of them are UKIP), but I agree with you that poncy and effete is best avoided.

Lil, I think it may be too early to actually fund UKIP. Leave that to Stuart Wheeler and his bottomless pit.

UKIP ..

Its a temptation. But I fear they are just the British tea party. The Earl Grey party perhaps? They amount to not much except protest.

But equally what are the chances of ticking the box next to Dave?

Only the box underneath with "Miliband! We know! Even he can't get his head round it, but its happening!"
will make one hover one's pen a little longer over the Cameroon box.

Around 4m C1s/C2s lost ?

The Daily Mail readership is around 5m.

The most telling thing from these figures is that this much maligned paper is not guilty of radicalising its readers as is alleged.

Lost Tory votes have not even translated into UKIP support, let alone BNP.

No. This country is in a truly terrible state and through Leveson the ruling (Leftist) elite has the Daily Mail in its sights.

They want to shoot the messenger. The one that tells it like it is and humiliates the Left so much.

Not satisfied with controlling the broadcast media the Left want to control the printed media too - that the public, given free will, chooses to spend its money on right-of-centre journals is deeply irritating to them.

Surely somebody is doing the maths for Dave and showing him that plenty of us have decided to opt out from the new conservative charade?

Cameron seems to be fiddling around at the edges without not getting stuck in, rather like the chap who's been told to play rugby, but is terrified of the scrum.

I've given up with him now, and after Osborne's car-crash of a budget, I actually feel more comfortable voting UKIP every time, because down here, they are making a real difference, even though, they'll never get some of the 'Old Disgusted of T.Wells' votes, because they have blue rinses, and so do the women...

Again I ask when will Cameron stop being frightened to be a Tory. When will he stand up to Clegg and all the oily rich boys in the Lib Dems and walk away from that European Court set up peopled by cosseted creeps who have never been voted for. How long will a wonderful country like this kow tow to a bunch of beaurocrats who couldn't spell DEMOCRACY?

It's bureaucrats. Actually. Good question though. Roll on the revolution.

I've been surfing online greater than three hours these days, but I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is pretty price enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did, the net will probably be much more useful than ever before.
