Back

For those who are not bored rigid by such things, allow me a bourgeois moment with the holiday snaps.

The house:

Its view of the Gulf of St Tropez:

The boat....

... took us to a fine lunch at Les Graniers....

.... and stayed afloat despite the fat bastards at the back....

.... and provided a platform for children's Nijinsky impersonations:

A nearby town, Gassin.....

.... where we were entertained by an excellent busking Dutch students' Dixie Jazz Band, the chanteuse of which seemed to meet most of the Tuscan's prerequisites......

... whilst the leader and washboard player met Lady Idle's prerequsities, and spotted her taking (many) pictures of him:

That'll just have to do for now.

Oh wow! That looked idyllic *sigh* So glad you and yours had a good time, Idle. The pics are not boring at all. I loved seeing them, thanks.

Lucky, indeed. Wealthy generous friends do tend to take the sting out of life.

Lucky man. Just off to the Riviera myself next week. How's the Euro holding up..or rather how's the pound holding down?

Great pics Iders...

I wondered why there were so few biting comments from the Idle stable; did you consider doing a Guido, and blog with a Blackberry?

I think not!

Welcome back, some sanity is required here or thereabouts...

I took the crackberry with me, scrobs, but I'm buggered if I know how to blog 650 miles away from my desktop.

BQ, Sterling is not welcome in St Trop. Roubles are fine, though. If you go on a Tuesday, it's market day in St Trop. The traders are more than happy to accept foreign notes and make spreads you could drive a Bentley through.

Blow me, I just looked up the Dutchies' jazz band and found their homepage, now linked in the post. I might hire them and send them to Lil's wedding to play during supper.

Rahter good indeed...show more when you recover from your exertions.

The worst forex spreads I have come across have always been on cheap flights.

Only if they wear those shorts....

Ah! Vive la France, of which that area is among my favourite bits. I have some good friends who live just outside St Trop and agree with you that there are some super little bistros hidden away up in them thar hills.

Re the music, many moons ago, I had a few discs of the Dutch Swing College trad jazz band whom I quite liked. I wonder if they still exist?

Just got round to this. You fortunate sod. Next time you go I want to bring Apricotfox in my old Bentley or we could fly down in her Tiger Moth. Toodle pip.

E-K falling in for duty, Sir.

Welcome back !

The photos are great. Looks like you had just as shit a time as I did.

It was a pleasure to have you all, Idle. Anything for an old friend.

Evening Idle.....Farqs here

I feel obliged to comment on the extraordinary pair of swimmers that you seem to be sporting! Are they the product of the legendary Ms Kidston?!

idle said...

Alceste, you are almost certainly wealthy enough to stand us all a BIG event in Frogland next year. I will bring my cricket bag if it would help my chances. Farqs will bowl medium quick if invited. He bowled at Lord's, y'know.

Farqs, I am embracing the gorgeous younger idle girl as I write this. No, they are not Kath Kidston. They were bought for a less than a fiver by the lady idle from an itinerant Turkish beachwear salesman somewhere between Galipoli and Marmaris about fifteen years ago. I considered them to be homosexual leisure wear for some years, but now I can barely be parted from them when the mercury rises above 25C.

Glad you spotted me as the slimmer of the two fat bastards.

Looks like a lot of fun was had by all.

Idle, Sir, noting your holiday arrangements, were you previously Madoff's agent for West Sussex?

What would your clients think if they should perchance visit this site.

idle said...

I was not, Savo. I know someone who dropped a cool $20m in the Fairfield Sentry feeder fund to Madoff, but it was nothing to do with me.

My host in France is partner of a very excellent hedge fund which was up 20% in 2008, which was nice.
