Peta, 23, from Essex

I am considering employing Peta in my investment advisory department. She has many of the attributes that some of our male entrepreneurial clients find attractive in a private banker.

And she is well briefed on precious metals' market behaviour.

I dare say she can provide a couple of tips for our clients that they will find most persuasive.

Feel free to add your own puns in the comments thread.

With metal and other commodity prices coming under sustained upside pressure for a range of well-documented macro-economic reasons, one might logically conclude that you don't get many of those to the pound.

Quite, alceste.

My own research suggested an imminent rise.

They say that physical ownership is safest, so I will pursue such a strategy.

Indeed so. We should be cognisant of the dangers of world around us. I was recently at an arms fair with a view to protecting my nearest and dearest. Only one thought occurred: get a load of those bazookas.

*the* world. Damn.

Looking, as I do, at the soft commodity market, it is clear that thematic investors should be long wheat, corn, soybeans and pork bellies. And melons.

Alternative investors have done well in fine wine and philately over the past few years. My numismatist advisors tell me I should always be on the lookout for good threepenny bits.

On an entirely different subject, I did have occasion recently to attend the Farnborough Air Show. Amid all the outstanding aircraft and aeronautics, we were treated to a race between two magnificent Zeppelins. The result was a dead heat.

At $1340 an ounce I make that about $85760 the pair.

Peta does a nice contango, I'm told

she favours a bit of backwardation as well

and as for her butterfly-spread & straddle ...

*nips out of the room quickly*

Henceforth, Peta will no longer give us the headlines. Instead we'll get the headlights.
