The Cream of Anglo-Tuscan Youth




The Tuscans dropped by for tea today, which was a brief pleasure. They brought their delightful boys with them, who played in the garden in that civilised way you expect of three well-mannered young gentlemen. Here's a picture of the garden soon after they departed on the long drive back to the Tuscan sunshine:

Yes, Idle, major and minor but not minimus. That photo is spot on. Gorgeous. Complete with naughty freckles.

Excellent back garden carnage. Just the ticket. Reminds me of those ads in the back of Mad, to which I could never bring myself to reply, just in case ...

Fine young fellows. Reminds me of my youth, and the fun one could have explosives. Yes, weedkiller and sugar was available to any common or garden back yard junior terrorist in those days. Banger fights with pipes sealed at one end. And the best - again, pipe sealed at one end, pop in a Sparklets cylinder, pop pipe, sealed end down, into well-kindled fire and stand back.

What out host does not show of course is the "before" pic; the TY (Tuscan Youth) spent quite a long time bringing in the wooden planks you see for his planned conservatory, and planting the hardy scrub and Joshua trees.

It is notoriously difficult to landscape an opencast asbestos mine, but they tried...
