"Wind farms are an abomination. As I've said before, I would rather a child of mine went into business manufacturing land mines (which at least have a valid defensive purpose) than got involved in the wind farm industry, which is the sole domain of grubby, conscience-free, exploitative, mendacious, rent-seeking corporatist scuzz balls and has about as much to do with saving the environment as the European Union has to do with free markets, democracy and national sovereignty."

James Delingpole, Torygraph-on-Line, May 2012

When I told my ex-brother-out-law I admired Dellers, the email was forwarded to the man himself and I got an email from the man himself telling me that he loves me. So I am biased.

Apparently windfarms are capable of generating very high charges.

I've always wondered at the alacrity that politicians can 'invent' a 'market', just by getting the BBC and others to admit to some obscure finding by a dead scientist, and suddenly, Bob's your uncle, we have global warming, odd weather, and now, power struggles which aren't nuclear. (Which is the only way to make cheap electricity).

The various EU governments have spun themselves into a commercial whirlpool, which they don't fully understand, but which brings enormous capabilities of political power, but founded on sand, and now exploited by people who really do know how to make a fast buck.

They can spin this one out for years. Bastards.

all one can say is that the solar PV industry is an even greater abomination

one must assume that it deployed a remarkably silver-tongued lobbyist at a critical moment in this sorry story of governments misled

Nowt *to* discuss. Mr. Delingpole is right. And a delight to read...

Everyone round my way has gone solar panel mad.
I have never lived in a house I owned for more than 6 years so I can't quite accept the 'in 20 years it pays for itself argument.'

I wonder how long those panels last? Is it about...20 years?

BQ, no, it's nothing like twenty years - especially if you don't take the trouble to clean them properly two or three times a year (as they're usually on the roof, nobody does this). And there are other, more expensive, components of these systems - electronics - that certainly won't last twenty years.

The whole thing is nonsense on stilts - and we're being made to pay for it.
